The PT Warriors are working to get our baseball program started again! We hosted a YMCA team for middle school age players this past summer. We are putting plans together for the fall! Our first Organizational meeting and informal practice is scheduled for September 10. See below for more information.
A middle school program would include young players from sixth through eighth grade (no younger than 10 years old). A high school team would be for grades 9th through 12th -- if we also have a middle school team, we would expect our high school players to be at least 14 years old. PT Warriors Baseball – News & Update
Organizational Meeting and Informal Practice Time - Saturday, Sept. 10
Parker-Tarrant Home School Sports will hold an organizational meeting for our baseball program on Saturday, Sept 10 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at South ZBoaz Park ball-fields. In addition to meeting with parents we will provide an opportunity for the players to throw the ball around, work on fielding skills, and even hit the ball some.
Our goal is to field both middle school and high school teams -- 6th through 12th grade are invited to attend the meeting / practice. We also have had a few people step forward and indicate they will be willing to help coach; however, we need more and we also need someone to help organize and direct the program.We are an all-volunteer program and need people to step forward to make it successful.
Directions to ZBoaz park are available here. Players should bring gloves and cleats (if they have them). We will provide balls and other equipment.
No fees will be taken at this time; however, if you have not yet filled out a Player Registration form we will need each player / family to fill one out. Blank forms will be available at the meeting or you can download a form from this link and fill it before-hand.
Off-Season Practice
If we can put together team this fall, we would look to hold off season practices through-out the fall. We are also investigating the possibility of playing in fall leagues.
The Season (Mid Feb – Early May 2009)
At the Varsity level, our Warriors baseball season typically runs from mid-February through early May, plus the possibility for the Homeschool World Series at the end of May. The season typically consists of games against other homeschool teams as well as private christian schools. Any Junior Varsity or middle school teams would typically begin in late-February and run through the end of April, with possible play into early May. JV opponents are similar to those of the Varsity team, while middle school teams would likely be registered in a local league.
Other Information:
Cost: Players fees are yet to be determined; however, we expect it to run around $300. Additional participation in fund raisers will be required.
Team selection: We do not expect to conduct formal tryouts, but would expect all players who can commit to the practice and game schedule, as well as our PTHSS Rules of Conduct, to be a part of one of our teams.
Forms: In order to a part of the PT Warrios program all players / parents must sign a Member/Athlete Registration form and a medical release form (both available below) at that time of sign-ups.
