PT Warriors Baseball 5/27/09 -- We're working to update all our web-site information this week. Please check back for updates! Our Baseball program is for Home School students in 9th through 12th grade. On case-by-case basis we may accept 8th grade players; however they must be 13 by September 1. Try-outs were held in October and November and we should be able to field both Varsity and JV teams this coming season. Allen & Alese Ashford, who did a great job with our game scheduling last year, are serving as Baseball Directors this year. Larry Hinkle, who has helped with coaching on and off the past five years, will be taking over as Head Coach. Larry's son, Layton, a five-year PT Warriors Varsity Letterman will be assisting with the coaching duties. 2008 - 2009 PT Warriors Baseball Season – News & Update Off-Season Practice Practices are currently being held every Saturday from 12 - 2 PM. Additional off season practices will begin after Thanksgiving on every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday through the end of the year (unless otherwise announced). Saturday practices will be at 12:00, while Mondays and Thursday will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. All off season practices will be conducted at Birchman Baptist Church. Contact Coach Hinkle for more details. The Season (Mid Feb – Early May 2009) At the Varsity level, our Warriors baseball season typically runs from mid-February through early May, plus (hopefully) the Homeschool World Series at the end of May. The season typically consists of games against other homeschool teams as well as private christian schools. The Junior Varsity season will typically begin in late-February and run through the end of April, with possible play into early May. The opponents are similar to those of the Varsity team. Larry Hinkle will be the Warriors Varsity Coach for the 2008-2009 Baseball Season. The Warriors Junior Varsity Coach has not been announced at this time, but will be selected and announced this fall. Other Information: Cost: Players fees are yet to be determined; however, we expect it to run around $300. Additional participation in fund raisers will be required. Team selection: Team selection is not exclusively on tryouts and will begin immediately after fall tryouts and a preliminary squad will be announced within a week or two. All players are encouraged to attend all practices and coaches are encouraged (but not required) to consider faithful attendance as a factor when weighing the merits of a particular player’s playing time. Coaches depend on reliable attendance in order to prepare organized and effective practices IMPORTANT NOTE: Players who are selected for the team will need to attend a mandatory parents meeting. Date, time and location will be announced later, but it will likely be sometime in early November 2008. At that meeting, each player needs to bring a copy of his birth certificate and the season fee. We will also need to get a signed Member/Athlete Registration form and a medical release form (both available below) at that time. At least one parent must attend. Players who do not meet these requirements may not practice or play with the team until they do. ![]() ![]() For More Information...
